Missional Communities

What is a Missional Community (MC)?

MCs are groups of men, women, and children joining in the work of Christ in the world. We do that by gathering in scheduled and unscheduled rhythms of hearing Jesus speaking through his Word, displaying Christ’s care for one another, and inviting others into the life of the MC family.

We gather as Missional Communities to:

  • Pray

  • Study and obey God’s Word

  • See people saved and start new MCs

  • See God work through ordinary means

Why join an MC?

Missional Communities are shaped from the truths that Jesus is saving us, he is speaking to us, he is shepherding us, and he is sending us.

One of the primary ways discipleship happens at Risen Church is through our missional communities. Jesus invites us to take part in His kingdom and as followers of Him we have a role to play.

What does life in an MC look like?

During a scheduled MC gathering you can expect to eat a meal together as a group, and spend time in God’s Word and in prayer.

In unscheduled rhythms, groups are looking for opportunities to share life together and practice the one another’s in day to day life with those inside and outside of our MC family.

Gospel Care Groups (GCGs) are groups of 2-3 gender based gatherings where those involved share how the Spirit has been speaking to them through scripture, confess sin, and pray for one another. These gatherings range in frequency and length but typically meet every other week for 1 hour.

Most GCG groups form out of Missional Communities. If you’re interested in joining a GCG talk to your MC leader!
